The SortedUK promise

We never profit from your confusion.

Last verified 5 Jun 2026 · Source v309 trust pledge + public corrections at /corrections · Publisher: SortedUK Ltd (filed 5 Jun 2026)

UK consumer-help is full of websites that look helpful but make money when users make mistakes. Affiliate kickbacks from debt firms. Mortgage broker commissions. Claims-management referrals. Comparison-site nudges into expensive products. We've made a single trust pledge that rules all of those out.

The pledge

SortedUK will never make money from your confusion.

Every commercial relationship we have is one we'll disclose in public. We will never take a fee that depends on you doing the wrong thing, paying the wrong firm, or staying in the dark. If it ever looks like we are, that's a bug — email us and we'll fix it within 7 days and log the correction publicly.

What that rules out

Specific commercial patterns SortedUK will not accept — today, post-foundations, or ever:

×

Affiliate kickbacks from debt management firms

Many UK comparison sites take 17-50% of a user's monthly DMP payment for the referral. We route only to free FCA-regulated charities (StepChange, PayPlan, National Debtline, Citizens Advice, MoneyHelper) and we receive nothing for the referral.

×

Mortgage broker commissions

The standard procuration fee is 0.35% of the loan. We do not take this. We route to FCA-authorised brokers via the FCA register, Unbiased, VouchedFor, or MoneyHelper — you find your own broker, we earn nothing.

×

Claims-management referrals

UK CMCs take 20-40% of a user's PPI / Section 75 / flight-delay payout. We give you the same templates + escalation routes for free at /can-i-claim and /insurance-claims.

×

Conveyancer or insurance commissions

Estate agents often get £200-£400 per conveyancer referral. We don't — we route to the SRA + CLC registers so you pick your own. Same for insurance comparison links.

×

"Free credit score" lead generation

"Free credit score" sites typically sell your details to credit-card providers, loan brokers + insurers. We don't run a credit-score product and we don't sell traffic to ones that do.

×

Behavioural advertising on logged-in user data

Once accounts ship (post the Company Number being issued for SortedUK Ltd — filed at Companies House on 5 June 2026, order #5935479 — plus ICO Tier 1 registration), we will never use what you saved in your Passport, Sorted Score history, or Opportunity Engine results to target ads at you.

×

Selling your data, even anonymised

Aggregated anonymised insights are the basis of the "UK Decision Ledger" moat, but we only publish them in aggregate (≥30 verified outcomes per category) and only when there's a clear public-good reason. We don't license raw or partially-anonymised data to brokers.

What we will do instead

The commercial path that's compatible with the pledge:

Optional SortedUK Pro subscription (post-foundations)

Once accounts ship: a transparent monthly subscription unlocking cross-device sync, weekly email digest, encrypted document vault, and household-shared dashboards. Pricing public. The free tier stays comprehensive — Pro is a convenience layer, not a paywall on rights.

Verified council / charity partnership fees (post-foundations)

UK councils + charities pay for licensed access to anonymised aggregated insights from the Decision Ledger — "what's worked in our area, what patterns are rising." Every partnership disclosed publicly at /sources with the contract value range.

Honest direct-to-user payments only

Optional Pro subscription = a direct, voluntary, transparent fee. Council/charity partnerships = transparent B2B. We never take money from any party that wants you to do the wrong thing.

Recommend free help first, always

Every result on SortedUK that involves a regulated decision (mortgage, debt, legal, tax, immigration) links to free FCA-regulated routes first: Citizens Advice, MoneyHelper, StepChange, Law Centres. Pro is never positioned as a substitute for them.

Publish corrections, outcomes, methodology + sources

Every commercial decision visible in public. Every mistake logged at /corrections. Every win tracked at /outcomes. Every formula at /methodology.

How to hold us to it

The pledge is meaningless without verification routes. Use these:

If we break this promise

One commitment with two consequences:

That's the trade. We hold the line by being publicly accountable for every line we cross.

The shorter version

SortedUK will never profit from your confusion. If you ever feel like we are, tell us, and we'll fix it in public.
