Information, not advice.

Sorted is a free, impartial UK public-help guide. We can speed you up, translate jargon, and point at the right official source — but we are not a lawyer, doctor, debt adviser, accountant, or government department. Everything Sorted shows you is information to help you act, not a substitute for professional advice.

If you need professional advice, contact: Citizens Advice (0800 144 8848) for benefits, consumer or housing issues; NHS 111 for health concerns; 999 for emergencies; StepChange (0800 138 1111) for free debt advice; Refuge (0808 2000 247) for domestic-abuse support; Samaritans (116 123) if you need to talk.

What Sorted is

What Sorted is not

Accuracy and limits

We work hard to keep Sorted accurate. UK rates and rules are sourced from GOV.UK, the NHS, Citizens Advice, and other official publications. Where we are uncertain about how Sorted has interpreted a letter or situation, the result card clearly shows a confidence level and explains why. Where the situation is high-stakes — eviction, court letters, possible self-harm, fraud loss — Sorted shows an Urgent Human Help banner with the relevant free helpline.

However: rules change, rates are uprated each April, and individual situations always have details Sorted cannot see. Always verify what Sorted says against the original document, the official website, or a free human adviser before acting.

Letters and OCR

The Letter Decoder uses regex pattern-matching that runs in your browser. It will sometimes misclassify unusual letters. Every result card includes an “I may be wrong about…” section listing alternative interpretations you can switch to. If Sorted suggests a deadline or amount, read it on the original letter — OCR is not perfect.

Crisis and safety content

Crisis Mode lists free UK helplines (Refuge, Samaritans, Shelter, StepChange, Trussell Trust, Mind). These are operated by third parties and Sorted has no control over their availability, response times, or the advice they give. If you are in immediate danger, dial 999.

Liability

Sorted is provided as-is and free of charge. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operators of Sorted accept no liability for any action you take based on information from Sorted, nor for any consequence of not using Sorted. Use of Sorted does not create any client relationship, fiduciary duty, or duty of care.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, where such limitation would be unlawful.

Pro

SORTED Pro is an optional one-off purchase that unlocks additional features (unlimited letter generator, deadline tracker, AI Claim Assistant). All Pro features remain subject to the same disclaimers above. A 14-day money-back guarantee applies to all Pro purchases.

External links

Sorted links to official UK government, NHS, charity and information sites. We have no control over their content and accept no responsibility for what you find there. Links to commercial services (banks, energy providers, etc.) are factual references and not endorsements.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms occasionally. The “Effective” date at the bottom shows when. By continuing to use Sorted after a change, you accept the updated terms.
