How facts are verified

Figures, rates and rules are taken from primary official sources - GOV.UK, DWP, HMRC, NHS, legislation.gov.uk and the relevant regulators - and each guide shows its sources and a last-verified date. Where the rules differ between England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, the differences are stated on the page. Full detail: methodology.

Corrections

When something is wrong, it is fixed and recorded publicly in the corrections log, with the old value, the corrected value and the date.

Where AI is used

AI features explain documents and situations in plain English; factual rules and figures come from the sourced content, not from the model.
