It was replaced by the Crisis and Resilience Fund, which your local council runs.

How this works

The Opportunity Engine maps your 10 answers against dozens of real UK money routes across benefits (DWP/HMRC), pensioner schemes, HMRC tax reliefs, Council Tax discounts, energy/water/broadband social tariffs, family/children grants, housing & deposit schemes, debt + crisis support, hidden money (lost pensions, dormant accounts, Child Trust Funds), compensation (Section 75, APP scam refund, UK261, Delay Repay), charity grants, and self-employed/business reliefs. Each result is tagged with a confidence rating (high likelihood · may qualify · check eligibility) and shows what else it unlocks (e.g. Pension Credit unlocks Warm Home Discount + free TV Licence at 75 + free NHS dental). This is a maximum potential, not a guarantee. Final eligibility is decided by DWP / HMRC / your council / your supplier — each card routes you to the action page that helps you claim. Everything saves only to this device. See the full methodology.

Free money in the UK: what is actually out there

“Free money” usually means one of three things: support you are entitled to and have not claimed, money you are owed and have lost track of, or one-off grants you did not know existed. All three are real, and all three are free to check.

Support you are entitled to

Around £24.1 billion of UK support goes unclaimed each year. The biggest gaps are Pension Credit, Council Tax Reduction and disability benefits — often missed because people assume savings, a job or owning a home rules them out. It usually does not. Check what you can claim.

UK grants checker

Grants are one-off payments you do not repay. They come from councils, charities, energy suppliers and trusts, and cover things like white goods, school uniform, funeral costs, boiler repairs and hardship. Many are open to people in work. Find grants.

Money you have already lost track of

There are 758,000 unclaimed Child Trust Funds worth over £1.5 billion, an estimated 3.3 million lost pension pots, and more than £88 million in unclaimed Premium Bond prizes. Every tracing service is free and official. See the eight places to look.

Never pay to find your own money

Commercial firms advertise heavily around benefit claims, tax refunds and lost pensions, and typically keep a share of whatever they recover. Some ask you to sign a deed of assignment that redirects future refunds to them as well. Every check on this page is free and you can do it yourself in minutes.
