Coverage & limits

What Sorted covers. And what it doesn’t.

Last verified 5 Jun 2026 · Source 80+ live tools + honest scope commitment

A national-trust app earns trust by being honest about its scope. This page lists everything Sorted covers today, everything it deliberately does not, and where to go instead. We update this page every time we add a new module or remove one.

The one-line rule: if Sorted does not cover your situation, the next-best official source is named in plain English with a working link. We do not leave you stranded. If you ever land on a "Sorry, can’t help" with nothing else — that’s a bug. Email us.

What Sorted does not cover Out of scope

The following are deliberately out of scope. For each, we tell you where to go.

Legal advice

Medical advice

  • Symptoms, prescriptions, dosages, diagnoses, mental-health treatment plans → NHS 111, your GP, NHS.uk

Regulated financial advice

  • Specific product recommendations, pension transfers, investment choices, complex tax planning → MoneyHelper, FCA-regulated advisers, StepChange

Regulated immigration advice

  • Casework, application strategy, appeals → OISC-regulated advisers, GOV.UK adviser finder, free legal-aid charities

Northern Ireland & Scotland specifics

  • Sorted aims to flag where rules diverge from England & Wales. For NI: nidirect.gov.uk. For Scotland: mygov.scot. Specific devolved benefits (e.g. Scottish Child Payment) are covered, with clear labels.

Business / company matters

  • Company law, VAT, payroll, employment law from the employer side, IR35, contracting → Companies House, HMRC business helpline, ACAS for employers

Children acting alone

  • Sorted is built for UK adults. Children under 13 should not be using Sorted alone. If you are under 18 and need help, Childline 0800 1111 is free, confidential and available 24/7.

Anything we cannot verify

  • If a question depends on facts we cannot see (the original document, your account history, the exact wording of a contract), Sorted will say so and ask you to read the original or contact the issuer.

What we’re working on next

The roadmap below is openly published so you know what is and isn't built yet.

Found something we should cover?

Email hello@sorteduk.uk with the topic and (if possible) a sample letter. We prioritise additions by how many UK households are affected and how time-critical the situation is.

Coverage as of 21 May 2026

This page is reviewed every time a module is added or removed. The last addition was the calculator suite expansion to 23 tools (May 2026). For the editorial principles behind these scope decisions, see our Methodology page.
